The Cavendish School

11+ and Leavers' Destinations

"I cannot imagine how the school could have done a better job of preparing the way for the girls."

Preparing for your child’s future 11+

Preparing for your daughter’s future school is an essential element of the partnership work between you (parents), Mrs Taryn Lombard (Head of The Cavendish School), and the teaching staff who know her best. This starts as soon as your daughter joins us. Most of our pupils will be with us from Nursery or Reception and we get to know them extremely well. This, together with our vast knowledge of senior schools in London and beyond means that we are able to fully prepare each girl for the varied demands of 11+ assessments, and ensure that specific schools are chosen that are right for your daughter, where she will thrive on the next stage in developing into a young woman.

In particular, when your daughter begins Year 5, formal meetings between parents and Mrs Lombard take place and these continue with regular follow-up sessions over the next two years. The meetings ensure that every girl and her parents are fully informed and supported throughout the 11+ process until all final offers have been received by parents and their first choice accepted. We are on hand throughout, to guide and offer our professional and experienced advice to aid in your decision.

We are extremely proud of our success in matching every Cavendish girl’s academic standard, aptitude, character and pastoral needs to the best suitable destination school. By doing this, we ensure that she will continue to enjoy the next stage of her education. Mrs Lombard believes that 'a wide-ranging education and a gentler culture need not be sacrificed in order to achieve academic excellence'; by the end of the girls’ time with us in Year 6, all girls successfully progress to places at secondary schools and many to highly sought after, competitive entry schools, often with scholarships and awards.

Leavers’ Destinations

We have an excellent reputation amongst senior schools for sending the right girls; girls who are not only well prepared for their next stage, but who also demonstrate a true love of learning and life and flourish in their new environment.

We are incredibly proud of the progress and development that our girls make and also that future Heads are justly delighted to receive girls from The Cavendish School. Below are the schools to which our girls have been offered and accepted places over the last few years.

"The process has been so much less stressful than I had feared."
