By its very nature and location in London, the school is an international, multicultural community. Tolerance of others, and of different cultural and religious backgrounds, creates a strong sense of community and is enhanced through a celebration of a range of festivals, including, for example, Harvest Festival and the Diwali Festival of Lights.
The school has been commended for its superb behaviour management and pupils are guided in the development of their own social, political and economic awareness, acting as School Councillors, eco-committee members and ‘travel ambassadors’. The Cavendish has four Houses, as a means of encouraging leadership and co-operation skills. All Year 6 pupils perform roles of responsibility, such as members of the School Council, Eco-Reps and Head Girls. We foster a family feel across age groups, for example by frequent peer reading and peer maths sessions, so that pupils know and support one another throughout the school.
There is an atmosphere of mutual respect amongst the staff, pupils and parents with all working together to achieve the same goals. Open communication is fostered.
"The Cavendish School has a wonderful sense of community and is warm and generous spirited."
